Welcome reception

Wednesday 5th July
Time: 19:00 – 20:30 (NB! Please be on time)
Place: Oslo City Hall, Rådhusplassen 1 (Fridtjof Nansens plass)
The Oslo City Hall is located within a short walk from the congress hotels (see map).

Important message: Admission to the reception at the City Hall is by invitation only. Admission tickets are included in the registration fee, but please tick off if you wish to attend. You will receive your official invitation card at the registration desk of the congress when you collect your name badge and congress bag. Please make sure to bring it with you to the City Hall.

Dress code: Smart casual


Congress participants are invited to attend the congress Welcome reception to be held in the Oslo city hall, as guests of the Mayor of Oslo. Inaugurated in 1950, the Oslo City Hall is the city's administrative body and the seat of the City Council. In the period 1900-1950 the building was decorated by great Norwegian artists with motifs from Norwegian history, culture and working life. Refreshments will be served and you will be invited on a guided tour of the building.


Opening Ceremony

Place: University Aula, University Place, Karl Johans gate
The University Aula is located within a short walk from the congress hotels (see map).
Dress code: Smart casual

The 64th ORCA congress will be officially opened in the University Aula that is one of the original buildings of the University of Oslo located in the city centre. The Aula will provide a wonderful setting for the ceremony with its wonderful large wall canvases painted by the world famous Norwegian artist Edward Munch.


Informal dinner

Thursday 6th July
Time: 19:30 – 22:00 h
Place: Akershusutstikkeren
The Town Hall pier is located approximately 5 min walk from the congress hotels (see map).
Dress code: Casual (It is recommended to bring a jacket as it cools down in the evenings)



We invite you to join us for an informal dinner on the Lady Mack sailing boat that will take us out in the Oslo fjord around its many picturesque islands. Meet up at the at Pier nr. 1 in front of the Oslo City Hall, and enjoy catching up with your scientific friends and colleagues in this intimate atmosphere.


Formal dinner

Date: Friday 7th July
Time: 19:30 – late
Place: Oslo Opera House, Kirsten Flagstads Plass 1

The Opera House is located approximately 10-15 minute walk from the congress hotels, alternatively a 5-10 min walk from Oslo (see map).
Dress code: Formal



Experience one of Oslo’s architectural pearls when we meet for the formal dinner in the foyer of the Oslo Opera House. The opera house is the home of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet and is situated in the Bjørvika neighborhood of central Oslo right by the fjord. The Opera House is designed by the famous Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta, also known for the Library in Alexandria and Ground Zero monument.
